In the area of process improvement, DSM makes every effort to keep the business’s main products competitive. The R&D strategy is based on the introduction of new chemical processes and the development of new biotechnology-based approaches. The latter efforts are supported by advanced biotechnological techniques such as genomics and proteomics.
DSM Nutritional Products supports its activities in vitamins and fine chemicals by conducting research that focuses primarily on process improvement and the development of new products. R&D activities revolve around two key markets: Human Nutrition and Health and Animal Nutrition and Health. A part of our R&D work is based on high-throughput screening of natural compounds, and also uses advanced genomics-based approaches (i.e. nutrigenomics). Apart from developing new products, DSM Nutritional Products is also working on improved formulations and new combinations of existing products.
